TAP regional fleet brand wins award 'The Airline of the Year', awarded by the Association of Regional Companies of Europe (ERA)


TAP Express, operated by Portugália Airlines and brand of the TAP regional fleet, was awarded yesterday at the annual Association of Regional Companies of Europe (ERA) ceremony which took place in Athens, Greece.

The TAP regional brand received the 'Airline of the Year' award, underlining the successful renewal process of Portugália fleet, a work that involved training of the company's pilots, engineers and cabin crews for 12 months.

"The birth of the TAP Express brand in 2016 was the beginning of a new cycle for Portugália Airlines. In addition to the rebranding project, we also made the phase-in of nine E190 aircraft and the phase-out of two fleets (6 Fokker and 8 ERJ145), involving more than 3800 hours of professional training and the involvement of all company," said Luiz Plácido Lapa, CEO of the company. "It is a great pride for us to obtain this recognition and a sign of accomplished mission. We believe that TAP Express is already a brand cherished by customers and that's what we strive for every day."

The "Airline of the Year award" celebrates the excellence, success and entrepreneurial spirit embodied in regional aviation," said Paula Bangle, ERA's CEO for business, associate and communications development. "TAP Express, operated by Portugália, winner of this year, made important achievements that show a significant turnaround in a complex and challenging local market, where the management team had a superb performance. Congratulations to the entire TAP Express team, operated by Portugália," she added.

Luiz Plácido Lapa, Director General of Portugália, also received, at the same ceremony, the 'ERA Award for Personal Excellence' award.
