The National Airline and its Travel Magazine were featured at the World Travel Awards for the third consecutive year


TAP was elected the Leading European Airline for Africa and the Leading European Airline for South America, and its Travel Magazine, UP, won the Leading European Traveler Magazine award at the latest edition World Travel Awards. These awards, considered the "Oscars" of world tourism, were presented at a ceremony held yesterday at the Ethnographic Museum of St. Petersburg, Russia.

Awarded since 1993, the World Travel Awards were established with the aim of recognizing, rewarding and celebrating excellence in all sectors of activity in the global travel industry and tourism. Named among some of the most recognized airlines, TAP was elected through an online voting process, mainly by professionals in the area of Tourism and Travel, namely travel agents, operators and tourism organizations, from more than 100 countries, as well as by the general public.

This year's trophies now join the prizes won in previous editions. TAP was elected by the World Travel Awards as the European Airline Leader for Africa and the European Airline Leader for South America in 2014, 2015 and 2016 - and Leading European Travel Magazine (2015 and 2016) -, World Airline Leader for Africa in 2011 and 2012 and holds the title of World Airline Leader for South America in 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012.

The World Travel Awards were the culmination of a month in which the national airline company saw its work recognized at various levels. TAP was once again elected Best Airline in the Publituris Portugal Travel Awards, which were awarded last 21st of September in Óbidos, to reward the best companies, institutions, services and professionals that have stood out in the national tourism sector during the course the last half of 2016 and the first half of 2017. The FlyTAP project, the company's new digital ecosystem, was honored at the Portugal Digital Awards, also on the 21st of September, with an honorable mention at a ceremony held at the Museum of the East in Lisbon. With the aim of rewarding distinctive and innovative projects and personalities that stand out in the field of digital transformation, these prizes had their second edition this year.
