Tap Air Portugal And El Al Israel Airlines Begins Codeshare Agreement

Lisbon and Tel Aviv linked through 16 gateways in Europe. Agreement also includes seasonal flights to Lisbon operated by Sun D'or, a subsidiary of EL AL.

TAP Air Portugal and EL AL Israel Airlines enter into a codeshare agreement that will allow passengers of both airlines to enjoy renewed travel options between Lisbon and Tel Aviv.

"In recent years there has been an increase in traffic between Israel and Portugal and it was important that the two flag carriers could offer a combined product that would make sense," said David Maimon. "We are pleased that we have been able to launch this codeshare with TAP and see this as an important component of our future growth strategy," he added.

"TAP is constantly looking for new ways to benefit passengers, in particular by improving and expanding the service options available to our customers. Our code-share with EL AL will enable us to add convenient, non-stop or one-stop services to Tel Aviv, thereby extending the reach of TAP's network and renewing our presence in the Eastern Mediterranean region", stated Fernando Pinto.

This new code-share aims to offer customers a range of service options that improve the connectivity of flights through airports where both companies operate, including: Amsterdam, London Heathrow, Brussels, Marseille, Madrid, Barcelona, Frankfurt, Munich, Zurich, Geneva, Vienna, Rome, Milan, Venice, Warsaw and Bucharest.

The direct seasonal flights between Tel Aviv and Lisbon operated by Sun D'or on behalf of EL AL are also included in the codeshare agreement.

As a result of this new agreement, EL AL Israel Airlines and TAP Air Portugal can strengthen their commitment to offer more and better connectivity options, promoting stronger commercial ties between the two countries and encouraging the growth of trade and tourism between Israel and Portugal.
