How to Survive the 'Game of Thrones'

If you want to survive the "Game of Thrones," it pays to be noble, female and flexible about the concept of loyalty.

In a new study published (yes, it is real), epidemiologist at Macquarie University in Australia analyzed the death of the key characters in the series  "Game of Thrones " HBO and found that the nobles died at a lower rate than the commoners, and the women died the A lower rate than men. Changing alliances, such as the character of Tyrion Lannister, standing on the side of Daenerys Targaryen, is another winning survival strategy.

The researchers published their findings in the "journal Injury Epidemiology", probably because  "Game of Thrones " is like sweets for those who love injuries and epidemiology. In the newspaper, the authors described their objectives regarding the deaths in the series, thus examining the mortality of the characters, giving  "to the authors an excuse to reattend the first seven seasons before the final season was exposed in the world "

The study would not require funding, the authors observed, as they already possessed all DVDs.

A total of 73,7% of all deaths in  "Game of Thrones " were caused by injuries, being these leaders in the series, wounds to the head and neck (hello, decapitation). Another 11,8% of the deaths came from Burns, and 4,8% were from poisings. Only two characters, Maester Aemon and Old Nan, died of natural causes.

"The risk of death is high among the characters in" Game of Thrones  "The epidemiologist Reidar Lystad, of the Australian Institute for Health Innovation, said in a statement.   "At the end of the seventh season, more than half of the characters died — 186 of the 33 characters we included in this study – with violent deaths being the most common "

The average survival time of the characters was 28 hours and 48 minutes of action, the researchers found, a simple set of 11 seconds to 57 hours and 15 minutes. (There have been 67 episodes of the series so far.) The risk of dying within 1 hours in the series was 14%-beginners, beware.

The overall results may not surprise regular viewers, Lystad said. But they can be interesting for conservative fans anyway.

"We have identified several factors that can be associated with better or worse survival " He said,  "that can help us to speculate about who will prevail in the final season ".
