Distraught singer Sinéad O'Connor on skids at motel in New Jersey
Troubled troubadour Sinead O'Connor is down on her luck again and living in a shoddy hotel "in the arse-end" of New Jersey, according to a recent Facebook post.
The 50-year-old Irish singer, best known for her Prince-penned hit, "Nothing Compares 2 U," sobbed in the short video as she talks about what it's like to be far away from her family and isolated because of her mental illness.
"I gave so much love in my life and I just can't understand how a person can be left all alone," O'Connor said in the 12-minute video posted Thursday.
"I hope this video will be helpful," O'Connor continued, as she detailed how she had to flee Ireland to avoid the stigma of suffering from three mental illnesses.
"I'm now living in a Travelodge motel in the arse end of New Jersey," she said in the Facebook feed.
"I'm all by myself. And there's absolutely nobody in my life except my doctor, my psychiatrist, the sweetest man on earth, who says I'm his hero, and that's about the only thing keeping me alive at the moment … and that's kind of pathetic," the singer choked out through tears.
"I want people to see what it's like, mental illness is a bit like drugs, it doesn't give a s--- who you are," she said.
"And the people who are supposed to be loving you and taking care of you are treating you like s---," she added.
It's not the first time O'Connor has shared her woes with the world.
The singer-songwriter, who told Oprah a decade ago that she was diagnosed with bipolar disorder in 2003, threatened to commit suicide in May after she lost custody of her 13-year-old son.
In a lengthy Facebook post, she told Ireland's Child and Family Agency they will "have a dead celebrity on their hands" if she wasn't reunited with her boy.
A year before that O'Connor set off alarm bells when she disappeared while bike riding in Chicago in November after a series of alarming Facebook posts hinting at possible suicide.
O'Connor's married four times and has four children.
The oldest Jake came when she was married to first husband John Reynolds, a music producer she married in 1987.
In 1995 she gave birth to daughter Roisin during a marriage to Irish journalist John Waters.
She had her third child, Shane in 2004 while married to musician Donal Lunny. Her fourth child, Yeshua, was born in 2006 to American father Frank Bonadio.
