The finest optics

The history of BelOMA starts back in in 1957 with the establishment of Minsk Mechanical Works. In view of expansion of production volume and nomenclature of the products being manufactured, in 1971 the Belarusian Optical and Mechanical Association has been founded on the basis of the MMW. Today, the company manufactures high quality optics and lasers, precision machinery, energt-efficient devices and electrical consumer products.

It's been a long road since the first releases by BelOMA. The Agat-18 cameras became a legendary product and became part of the most iconic range of cameras made in the former USSR, paving road to present-day Lomography.

But the BelOMA factory evolved, gathering expertise and knowledge troughout the years. It's aim, since foundation, was to supply high quality optics to the state, developed for consumer, industrial and military use. Today, though maintaining it's military tradition, the Belarusian brand is a lot more than meets the eye. The quality is still unsurpassed.

Partnership with Zeiss

Since 1995 BelOMA has established a partnership with german optics company Zeiss, allowing a investment of over USD$20 million over the last twenty years, giving the company the economic tools to expand in the ever changing global market, presenting new products and developing new technologies, specially in the optics and optoelectronic area, becoming the only belorusian company allowed to use the "Made in Germany" label on it's products, due to the high quality of it's manufacture, done mainly in its plant in Minsk, capital of Belarus.

Products for work, science and leisure

BelOMA makes several types of optical equipment, including photographic lenses (for several camera mounts), spectral bank note identifiers, door optics, binoculars, telescopes, loupes, night vision devices, optical and collimator sights for use in small arms, thermalimaging devices, rangefinder products and medical devices.

Fully equiped, BelOMA factories have great production capabilities gathered in special-purpose production lines, such as foundry, machining, optical, polymeric material processing, stamping shops, electroplating shops and paint and varnish shops, assembly and tool shops. BelOMA has specialized production areas to check mouldings on tightness and their vacuum impregnation in sodium silicate composition, production areas on manufacturing of printed-circuit boards, electronic modules, optional equipment, welding, and woodworking, among others.
