The SGL Group – The Carbon Company, is one of the worldwide leading manufacturers of carbon-based products. They have in-depth materials, production, applications and engineering expertise, a comprehensive graphite and carbon fiber based product portfolio, and an integrated value chain from carbon fibers to composites. The brand operates close to its customers through a global sales network and state-of-the-art production sites in Europe, North America and Asia. With this Broad Base, they offer Best Solutions to customers with the help of their Company philosophy of SGL Excellence.

Products

The Business Unit Performance Products manufactures graphite electrodes for the production of steel in electric arc furnaces and carbon elctrodes which are used in other smelting applications (e.g. Silicon, phosphorous). They fabricate as well cathodes and furnace linings. The cathodes are used in the productions of primary aluminum. The furnace linings enable the production of pig iron in a blast furnace. The Business Unit Composites - Fibers and Materials encompasses high-performance products based on carbon, glass and aramid fibers. In an exclusive range of growth industries, e.g. wind energy, sports equipment, automotive and aerospace, users benefit from our vast expertise in composite technology.

The company's process expertise covers the entire carbon composites chain – from raw materials (precursor), carbon fibers, textile products, prepregs and preforms to finished components in carbon fiber-reinforced plastics (CFRP). Manufactured in their own plants in Europe and North America, their carbon fiber forms the basis of the entire value chain of composite applications.

Commitment to Quality

Maintaining the high quality of both products and services is vital to the long-term success of the company. They are striving for continuous improvement of products and services and are applying the methodology of Six Sigma in order to generate the expected value added for their customers' satisfaction.
