The Essential Part of Life

Smells, aromas are the essential part of our lives. A vague wave of scent by chance reaching our nose in a crowd is enough to awake a vivid picture of our childhood: Mom putting her perfume on in the morning before going out to her job… "Your VIP Partner" discovered, who are the magicians making the essential oils and extracts paint our lives in bright colours.

<

The Biolandes story began in 1980 when Dominique Coutière decided to start up a company in the heart of the Landes, south of Bordeaux. He developed a process of automated continuous distillation which would also be applied to extraction several years later.

The pine needle oil was being sold to the perfume industry while the waste of distillation was converted into two original by-products: composted, it is used in gardening, and dried, it is burnt as a natural source of energy.

Since 1988, Biolandes has chosen to set up factories directly on the production sites of several of the main aromatic plants: Spain (1988), Turkey (1991), Madagascar (1995), Bulgaria (1996), Morocco (1998), Provence, France (2004) and Comoros (2014).

With the takeover of 2 producers in Grasse (1993 and 1997), its investments on site and its partnerships, Biolandes has quickly become a leading producer of natural extracts for the perfumery industry.

Leading producer of essential oils and extracts for perfumes, cosmetics and flavours, Biolandes offers today a range of 300 products extracted from 80 plants collected in 30 countries.

Ever since its beginnings, Biolandes has made its Research and Development department the driving force behind its growth. First focused on extraction processes, their Research team has developed and patented continuous distillation and extraction techniques as well as innovative ways to produce absolutes. The 18 strong teams of engineers and technicians work in a 1000 m² laboratory.

This large R&D facility means that Biolandes can also offer technical partnerships to its clients: development of new products, development of specialities or new active ingredients.

Thirty years after its first distillations of pine needles, Biolandes has become a world leader in the production of essential oils.

Used by companies in the scent, taste or well-being business (perfumery, cosmetics, aromatherapy, flavours, nutraceuticals...), their essential oils are from genuine origins and strictly pure.
