Kokoon Technology was born in London, England, in 2013, by the hands of a group of four entrepreneurs, with a simple goal: make the experience of sleep with headphones as possible without the ear pain caused by the pressure of the same, with automatic volume adjustment, as we're going to fall into deep sleep, aimed at all those who can't sleep deeply.

Modern life, anxiety, stress, alcohol, nicotine, noise and disturbance that lead to these and other factors, made our supposed natural state of sleep into a kind of myth.

From the known "daydreaming", without going into the resting full brain state, a restful sleep is, for 30% of the world's population, truly a dream. Many are starting to find that one-third of their lives are being wasted "bad slept" nights, desiring to enter the pure state of natural unconsciousness.

And it was during one of these nights of insomnia, the idea for the Kokoon was born. Not wanting to go down the path of medication and frustrated by the lack of physical solutions on the market, it was decided that something had to be done. Despite the sound being the most effective way to induce deep sleep, the truth is that never were solutions able to make possible. The headphones are hot, sweaty, sometimes the pain begin to make itself felt and the music wakes us when we began to get deeply asleep, difficulting the "disconnection" from our day when we try to get into our subconscious state.

The idea of Kokoon headphones is precisely to eradicate all these problems, showing a simple solution, comfortable, with audio and induced outside noise cancellation, creating a sort of cocoon. It all started by comfort: people won't sleep with extra accessories, so the headphones needed to be comfortable and something people would like to use during sleep.

This meant that the team would have to get away from the conventional design and focus on form and profile, using the material 'FlexMould' to the outer cups, which shapes and coated cotton is anatomical with breathable pads with 'Cool Gel' to the ears – as well as the ' Bluetooth ' system of low power consumption, allowing achieving the 11 hours of operation – this wireless solution eliminates all the problems mentioned above.

After resolving the issue of comfort, the team turned to the audio, with the aim of ensuring that the volume decreases gradually as we enter a state of deep sleep. This led to the development of brain sensors that detect our current state. Built-in sensors ' EEG (Electroencephalographic meters), are used to measure brain activity, which determines our state of sleep, keeping the audio volume level each cycle, decreasing gradually and increasing the same way according to the setting of the alarm, for example.

Noise reduction allows the deep sleep, creating a sanctuary as we sleep – at least this is the way the team faces the project. Simplicity was always the key to design, therefore all we have to do is press 'play'.

Kokoon is also created within a partnership with the reputed Japanese brand of audio products Onkyo, bringing even more quality to the product which promises to revolutionize and end the stubborn insomnias, which are a problem for the experience of sleep for a great part of the world population. The headphones can be purchased through the official site; as well as, for those who wish, give the contribution for it's development.
