LET THE GAMES BEGIN

After the success of the Winter Olympics in 2014 and the Confederation's Cup of Football in 2017, that took place in 4 cities in Russia during the summer of 2017, with 8 national teams and had Germany, Chile and Portugal in the first places, FIFA is organizing in Russia the top world contest in football; the 21st Football World Championship.

The best 32 national teams from all Continents are going to play during June and July 2018, starting in Moscow on the 14th June 2018 with the match between Russia and Saudi Arabia, followed in the following day in S. Petersburg the long-waited match between the rivals Portugal and Spain. Also in S. Petersburg, the half final and the award of the 3rd place will occur between 10th and 14th July and the final match will be in the Luzhniki Stadium in Mosco won the 15th July 2018.

During this month 64 matches among 32 national teams from all Continents will occur in 11 cities, especially in Moscow, S. Petersburg, Kazan, Samara, Sochi, Kaliningrad, Saransk, Volgograd, Rostov-on-Don and Yekaterinburg (in the Asian part of Russia).

The Football World Championship and the Olympic Games are the sport events that generate more attraction to the public, either in presences or through television views. With high sponsoring of 12 great world brands and under the baton of the mascot Zabivaka, a nice wolf typical of the steppes, and with the poster of Lev Yashin, the best goal keeper of all times, the eyes of the world of sports will be focused in Russia during the summer of 2018.

Russia is the largest country in the world, spread in Europe and Asia, covering 9 time zones, it is the 9th in population and the 8th in exchange reserves, having large natural mineral and forestry resources. Russia is the largest country in Europe, occupying 40 % of the area of Europe where about 80 % of the population lives, but about 75 % of the Russian territory is in Asia, from the Urals until the Pacific coast, where the city of Vladivostok is a reference, a great city that is the starting station of the famous train Tran Siberian, that goes through Russia until S. Petersburg, one of the longest and more mythical train trips.

The History of Russia is full of events that have forged the world along many centuries, some of them very tragic, as the nazi invasion in 1941, but followed by the setback that leaded to the end of the 2nd World War in 1945. But it is in the domains of culture, arts, science and technology that the Russians must be distinguished. The main cities, Moscow and S. Petersburg, are true museums that is important to take advantage of the World Football Championship to visit during the summer of 2018 as tourists, joining relax, sport and culture. Besides, the Russian people likes to welcome tourists, even if there may occur some difficulties of translation, and is engaged to give an attractive image of Russia that may demonstrate that many news seen in certain newspapers are fake news that are not accurate and correct. 

 Russians are very proud because they have been pioneers in the space conquest, with major honor to Yuri Gagarin, the first cosmonaut, and the satellite Sputnik, and they keep having a leading role in aeronautical and space industries, nowadays with join missions of international cooperation with other countries, including the United States of America.

Moscow, the capital, is the largest city in Europe, with 12 million people, having multicultural features where people from all latitudes and countries live together, as Russia exercises a relevant role at international level, especially in businesses, science and technology, attracting business people from all the world. But also in the domains of arts and culture Moscow is a very important pole of attraction, mainly at the Red Square, the Saint Basil Cathedral, the Treasuries of the Kremlin and the Bolshoi Theatre, a world reference in ballet and opera. But also in other domains of art, as music, where great Russian composers, as Tchaikovsky, Rimsky-Korsakov and Rachmaninoff, are unforgettable world memories of musical greatness that lead great orchestras and lyric singers.

Also S. Petersburg, the third European city with 5 million people, a city open to the Baltic Sea through the Neva river, with magnificent channels, is notable for the beauty of its urban design, the unparalleled beauty of its Palaces, Museums and Cathedrals, as the famous Palaces Peterhof and of Katerina, the amazing and immense Hermitage Museum at the Winter Palace, the Cathedral of Kazan and the Church of the Resurrection, true jewels of architecture, mainly baroque and new classic styles, full of painting, sculpture and other arts treasures. S. Petersburg has a total of 36 World Heritage sites by Unesco and deserves a long stay, including a visit to the island of Kizhi, ate the Onega Lake, at Karelia, also World Heritage by Unesco, and many other important touristic attractions.

A visit to Russia during the summer of 2018, at least to Moscow and S. Petersburg, taking advantage of the touristic circuits especially organized for the World Football Championship, is a unique opportunity to know this magnificent Country, full of History, culture, beauty, safety and open ambiance.
