FREE TO WALK

Summer is back to the North hemisphere and that means less clothes, more outdoor leisure in beaches and parks, freeing yourself from stifling winter garment and heavy shoes.

We have often referred in these pages that the feet are one of the most important parts of our body, because they support all out body weight. And the arrival of Summer is a great excuse for us to go to work in lighter footwear.

And, when going outdoors, many prefer to go shoeless, either on the beach sand, hanging around the pool or for a walk in the park. This option, however, is fraught with danger. Sharp objects, spurs, rocks and hot pavement can turn it to an uncomfortable option. Plus, the danger of slipping on wet surfaces is difficult to ignore.

But thanks to Italian company Sabato Alterio, there is an innovative foot protection for barefoot enthusiasts. The Nakefit is a protection device that places a unique protection layer over the bottom of the feet.

It is made with cutting-edge materials which make it possible to walk freely without shoes over hot surfaces, such as beach sand in the end of the day, or rough surfaces, such as paving and rocks.

They are hypoallergenic soles that you can stick onto your feet. Nakefit are constructed from a durable flexible plastic polymer that is cut-resistant and manufactured under practices that don't harm the environment. Each sole is resistant to scrapes and its elastic design stretches to accommodate all foot sizes. The adhesive is completely hypoallergenic and doesn't cause irritation or allergic reactions. Plus, it is also waterproof and they offer heightened grip, making them suitable to use around a swimming pool.

At the end of the day, wearers simply peel off the soles from the feet – it's a non-painful simple process. They can also be re-used at a later date or simple throw them away, as they are entirely recyclable.

The Nakefit comes in three colours – pink, blue or black – and they are available in a variety of sizes for both adult and children. Another excellent news is its price: 30 euros for a ten pack of Nakefit soles.
