The TECHO group is one of the leading European producers and suppliers of office furniture. Since 2005 it has been part of the Dutch furniture group ROYAL AHREND NV, the third largest in the world.
In recent years the company has grown into a strong international company with annual sales in excess of one billion crowns.
TECHO works with renowned Czech and international architects and designers. We are proud of the fact that our vision, which integrates design quality, first-rate production quality and exceptional architectural concepts, is well received not just in Europe, but also across other continents.
TECHO products are delivered to clients on three continents – Europe, Asia and Africa. The strongest market is that of Central and Eastern Europe, where TECHO provides comprehensive fit-out services for commercial interiors.
From the start TECHO has supported the Czech non-profit organisation Prostor - architecture, interior, design. This benefits architects, designers and the general public through its promotion of Czech architecture, interior design and design. It is complementary to the activities of the company.
At the start of the 90s TECHO completely modernised their production facility, and it now represents one of the most modern furniture factories in Central and Eastern Europe. The production floor space has been increased several times and productivity has risen consistently. In May 2012 TECHO became the first producer of office furniture in this region to start using laser technology for edge application.
With each increase in production capacity the factory layout also changed to ensure the best possible utilisation – from raw material stores to finished product stores and despatch. TECHO also have a tried and tested system of feed-back from production to project and production engineers. This ensures that their products are subject to a process of continuous improvement, leading to simplified production processes and reductions in material usage. The entire factory is geared up to reducing environmental impact – whether in the form of reducing emissions, adjusting production procedures, a comprehensive waste disposal/recycling system and the inspection of suppliers to ensure they also apply environmentally sound procedures. In this field TECHO is a leader and a role model for other producers in CEE.
In the past decade they have ploughed significant investment sums into our factory in order to reduce environmental impact. With respect to air and water pollution, their factory operates within Scandinavian standards, which are much stricter than the applicable EU standards. Our emissions only reach 10% of the permissible limits set by EU standards.
A significant contribution to the positive TECHO group financial results came from the developing markets, where the company sees great potential. The second largest export market was Great Britain.
Due to the extreme commercial pressure in the local market the Czech branch has recorded a lower profit than the average within the group. On the other hand, higher profitability against the average was achieved by the branches in Slovakia, Romania, Great Britain, and also by exports to developing markets. Due to the high margins the African market, where TECHO has been active for almost 15 years, is the most interesting at the current time.
